Waste Water Development Centre - Bo'ness WwTWs

Our Waste Water Development Centre enables users to test and develop prototype products, processes and technologies on an industrial scale for real world application.

Water Types

Municipal - raw unscreened, raw screened, secondary sewage, activated sludge, final effluent
Industrial - various sources avalible upon request

Technologies

  • Plug & play into wastewater feeds directly from the WwTW
  • Access to screening test area
  • Pilot scale sequencing batch reactor

The pilot scale SBR comprises one large tank, separated into two treatment basins that can be operated either individually or in parallel.  In parallel mode, one basin can be operated as a control, enabling different operating conditions in the trial basin to be varied and compared to the control. The set-up is ideal for evaluating chemical addition to the SBR process or variable SBR conditions. The system can also be configured to operate as a batch chemical treatment process with multiple chemical additions. This could include a test product, coagulant and flocculant or alternative chemicals. The quantities and dosing time in the cycle can all be varied via the control panel

Analytical equipment

pH, weighing scales
List of analysis avalible upon request from Scottish Water's accredited labs.
